Vertical Seoul: Climbing Insubong Peak

Insubong Peak (811m), located in Bukhansan National Park, is a magnificent granite monolith accessible exclusively via rock climbing.

Over 80 established routes span its Southern, Western, and Eastern faces, offering a diverse range of difficulties suitable for everyone from beginners to expert climbers. While not every route leads directly to the pinnacle, the summit is accessible from most points via connecting traverse paths.

The summit itself is a spacious, flat plateau that commands breathtaking panoramic views. From the top, you can overlook the surrounding peaks—Baegundae, Mangyeongdae, Nojeokbong, and Sumeunbyeok—as well as the sprawling cityscape of downtown Seoul.
